Safety alert issued about dead-leg pipework Following a recent incident, HSE has issued a safety alert about catastrophic rupture of dead-leg pipework. A recent incident of localised corrosion in a dead-leg resulted in catastrophic full-bore failure of the line and a large loss of containment of extremely flammable material.   The alert has been issued to remind operators of relevant good practice for dead-leg inspection to help avoid similar incidents.   Read the full safety alert.  Back to school ... with a sensible approach to health and safety HSE encourages a sensible approach to health and safety in schools, which means focusing on how the real risks are managed.   This guidance will help those responsible for managing health and safety in schools to strike the right balance so that risks are managed, while learning opportunities are experienced to the full.   You can also get guidance on school trips, and we have a classroom checklist as well as advice on asbestos in schools, for those who manage or oversee the maintenance and repair of school buildings.   Visit our Education website for more information.
