For fixing problems with tiny pointers in just xterm under fvwm3 I did this:
in .Xresources
XTerm*pointerShape: left_ptr
XTerm*cursorThem: Adwaita
Xcursor.size: 32

Xcursor.size can be 64 and also a couple of smaller sizes.
There may be other variations on this. I don't know, but this really saved me from a micro pointer.
