start-pulseaudio-x11 when autostarted from LXQt fails to initialize modules

Hello ports@ My partner has a LXQt session on our shared computer. When he logged in one day, his pulseaudio volume control applet reported only a dummy output instead of `default` provided by sndio like it did before. I was able to fix it by changing the autostart to `pulseaudio -D` but I fear this is an improper way to start pulseaudio on an LXQt session long term. Investigating more, running `start-pulseaudio-x11` in a terminal results in: ~ $ start-pulseaudio-x11 Failure: Module initialization failed Is there something broken on my end? I haven't configured pulseaudio outside of what comes with the package. Any pointers would be helpful. Thanks, -- iz (she/her) > I say mundane things > so the uninteresting > just might get noticed. izder456 (dot) neocities (dot) org
