amd (BSD automounter) and LDAP

Hello,

if I correctly understand amd(8), it supports file maps and NIS maps,
but differently from more recent incarnations of the BSD automounter,
not LDAP maps. Given that that's correct: Can I use ypldap to interface
amd and LDAP—having read ypldap.conf(5) my impression is that ypldap is
specifically tailored to interface passwd(5), master.passwd(5) and
group(5) lines and not serving arbitrary maps, that's why I am asking.
