Good idea. The result is rather largeish. I'll keep it around in case a developer would like to take a look. It looks to me like it manages to scan the filesystem, starts transferring files and then after /etc/group there are no more calls until I kill it.
I guess in the meantime I'll take the advice of the other Stuart and fall back to GNU rsync and see how openrsync develops.
