I took some more time to understand the output of top(1) (which I'm not
familiar with, because I'm used to htop(1)) and now everything seems
fine. Sorry for the fuss and thanks for your responses!
I guess there is a bug in htop(1) instead. Now that I'm taking a closer
look, I notice, that the second core is apparently always at 0.0% load.
Not sure how I missed this until now.
