It is still broken on i386 but the error changed:
Fatal Error: if_no_fd.c: FD Solver not linked
I've tried a few other things and nothing works, have updated the
comment in the Makefile about this.

COMPILER_LANGS goes with COMPILER so I've removed that as well.

Otherwise looks good to me, committed with those minor tweaks.
I'll do a bit of tidying on top, but that's small things that were
already there, nothing wrong with what you sent.
