I've actually had that happen, back in the 90's I was the IT Manager at AMCOR(Australian Paper) only corrugated container paper mill in the US, located in Prewitt NM. At 1130pm on a Saturday night I got paged from the Mill staff that the label printer at end of paper machines was printing garbage. After calling DEC VAX support I headed out for the 90 mile drive to the mill.

The DEC field engineer and I troubleshot the gibberish printouts for a couple hours. We finally realized the printer power cord was connected to a wall outlet instead of the clearly marked Clean power outlet. Turns out janitorial staff had unplugged the printer when they mopped the floor.
