I may take a different approach. :)

I'll monitor the hw.sensor.cpu0.temp0 value via a cron job, and send out
a warning when things look warm and shutdown when things look hot.

I'm also planning to physically keep the lid open a bit, with a tilt of
the laptop to promote convection, allowing some air circulation.
