This is a little bit hard to follow.
Does it matter if OpenBSD 7.7 is connecting to 7.8? Or only 7.8
connecting to 7.8? Or also 7.8 connecting to 7.7?
Are you using X or Wayland? Do you have this lag locally, pressing up in
shell?
What you are describing with the connection getting closed and this lag
sounds like maybe a network issue. Can you diagnose with ping and maybe
mtr to see if that's the case?
If I'm following correctly, a lot of packet loss could cause this.
Maybe it's a wireless driver regression?
