Not everyone needs or even wants a GUI. I swear how many people can be incapacitated by a piece of tape stuck to the underside of their mouse. Not everyone has a big and beefy box as you. It already has been mentioned just some of the environments where X11 can't run and/or is wasting space. My server could run X11 but I don't need it so it doesn't run it, my choice. The installer already helps the new user! If you are unsure how to answer a prompt just take the default answer. The defaults will setup your disks and install ALL the sets! and run X. It takes effort to install only the base set and the help is already there. OpenBSD has one of the best installers out there, it only asks for what can't be determined automatically and can be fully automated to boot.
